Adventures at home β€’ This week at the library

Spring reading adventure

A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies.
The man who never reads lives only one.
--George R.R. Martin

πŸ“šπŸ˜ƒ Kids read books and win prizes. Reading is an adventure you can have at home. This spring, Menlo Park young people are encouraged to read books, then report how much they've read for the chance to win awesome prizes provided by Friends of Menlo Park Library. Finish the reading adventure log and kids receive a free book in the mail.Β

Seeds By Mail

During the stay-at-home orders, many Menlo Park neighbors are starting new gardens. Seeds By Mail is a beta test for sending seeds to Menlo Park residents in a way that is safe, sensible, and compliant with shelter-in-place orders.

The Seeds By Mail beta test is available to Menlo Park resident library card holders who sign up for the Menlo Park Seed Library.

πŸŒΌπŸ˜ƒ A "green" resource for the community. The Menlo Park Seed Library operates as a community seed exchange in which borrowers may β€œcheck out” a wide variety of vegetable and flower seeds to plant in their gardens for home use. The seeds are provided at no cost to Menlo Park residents.

The Seed Library is a public service of Menlo Park Library to:

  • Enhance food security
  • Promote a greener community environment
  • Foster strong neighborhood ties
  • Educate about the natural world.

The Menlo Park Seed Lending Library is a project of the City of Menlo Park with support from Menlo Park Library Foundation. Learn more
